FORGET PARIS

FORGET PARIS

Posted by Matchesfashion writer: Chloe Batt October 6th, 2008

So all Chanel shaded eyes are on Paris this week – and the lucky few that are in Paris are at this very moment sashaying down a tree lined boulevard to a defile de mode – for those who can’t make it to the city of lights, I discovered today a mini Paris right here in London.

My petite Paris epiphany came this morning on the way to our Marylebone store – I noticed that Marylebone high street with its cute quirkiness could seriously pass as Paris. The street has the obvious Parisian street idiosyncrasies – narrow and winding (mais oui), cafe tables spilling onto the streets, chic locals sipping cafe au lait and nibbling crossants (yes and yes). Even shop window displays on the street are filled with Gallic goods – baguettes, pain au chocolat and lavender sprigs artfully arranged with wicker baskets.

Fashion wise or  should I say la mode – by the time I got to our store at the top of the street I was so French filled I went directly to the rail of Isabel Marant looking to adorn myself in some left bank cool.

For all things French take a look at the Marylebone Village Retail Directory which will be published in November 2008. The directory is a pocket sized guide which lists all the best shops restaurants and cafes within Marylebone Village many of them tres francais!
