BOUDICCA THE SHOWROOM!
Posted by Matchesfashion writer: Chloe Batt June 22nd, 2009
Without turning all horn rimmed spectacles on you, I’ve spotted an interesting trend for A/W09 that puts the beautifully crafted and world class design we (at Matches) have always championed, into focus. I’m gonna call it INTELLECTUAL fashion. Meaning what exactly? Well, what I am trying to say is that I think there is a strong feeling at the moment for designers who are almost couture led with avant-garde concepts at their heart. The head of this intellectual fashion pack is - Boudicca! These guys (Brian Kirby and Zoe Broach) are creating the heirloom pieces that will live on for generations. And I think there’s a whole lot of intelligence in fashion thats inspired, special and enduring…
I had a peek this weekend at Boudicca’s studio and showroom on Vyner Street (in East London) I was charmed by their light, bright and airy studio, a treasure trove filled with beautiful found objects, books, plants, couture pieces and Boudicca-esque installations! Check out their pics of the studio above. And as for those beautiful Boudicca pieces I speak about they are arriving in store as I write this very blog.
