Oh Kitty!

Posted by Matchesfashion writer: Stevie Brown December 8th, 2011

To celebrate the return of Charlotte Olympia’s cult Kitty pump, we took a moment to ask the lady herself (Charlotte Dellal that is) about shoes and, erm, clay pigeon shooting.

The Kitty shoe from Charlotte Olympia

What was the inspiration for the Kitty shoe?
I wanted to create a smoking slipper with a twist by replacing the usual monogram with something else. The embroidered cat face is subtle enough, but when you notice it it makes you smile. There is also a high wedge version, Tessa, that is named after the family cat I had as a child.

Trunk Show

Only at Matches: Issa’s elephant print scarf
If you live in London, you might have spotted a few brightly painted, life-sized elephants scattered about town. Designed by artists, celebrities and designers, they are part of the Elephant Parade, a project initiated by the Elephant Family to raise money for the conservation of the endangered Asian elephant.

These elephants will then be herded together in one of London’s great green spaces for a magnificent exhibition, open to the public. After going on display, they will be auctioned by Sotheby’s at a glittering event, which aims to raise over £1 million, benefiting more than 15 UK conservation charities working in Asia; this event is set to be the party of the season!

WONDERWOMAN

Posted by Matchesfashion writer: Chloe Batt November 7th, 2008

Diane Von Furstenberg’s famous motto in the 1970s was “feel like a woman, wear a dress.” Today the message continues with her new Wonder Woman (Holiday 2008) collection which launched last night with an event at our Mayfair store.

Diane has penned a limited edition comic book to go with the range, “The Adventures of Diva, Viva and Fifa,” which is emblazoned with the message “Be the Wonder Woman you can be.” The collection itself is a kaleidoscope of coloured dresses and separates that in true Wonder Woman style celebrate the female form.
