Posted by Matchesfashion writer: Sacha Harrison October 14th, 2011

Day four of men’s tailoring week lent itself to all things gentlemanly when Rake elegantly graced the rails of No23.

MEN’S TAILORING WEEK: HARDY AMIES

Posted by Matchesfashion writer: David Hayes October 14th, 2011

For the final day of Men’s Tailoring Week, No.23 is being taken over – in the most elegant way imaginable – by venerable Savile Row fashion house, Hardy Amies. We caught up with the brand’s super-cool new Creative Director, Claire Malcolm, to talk shell suits, Elvis and Turkish Delight.

*What is your first memory of wearing a suit? Did your father wear suits?

My first memory of wearing a skirt suit was when I worked as a bar manager at a golf club when I was 18. I don’t really remember my dad wearing suits when I was younger. He was a Formula 1 photographer and suits aren’t the most practical of garments for a pit lane!

MEN’S TAILORING WEEK: RAKE

Day Four of Men’s Tailoring Week belongs to the rather fabulous Clive Darby of ultra-hip London label Rake. We caught up with him to talk about what’s cool now – and just what was acceptable in the 80s.

*What is your first memory of wearing a suit? Did your father wear suits?

My first memory is when I started working as a Saturday boy in a gent’s outfitters back home in Derby and then at school when I was in the sixth form. My father would all ways wear a suit. He had a sense of pride in his appearance and this was handed down.

E.TAUTZ’S SMOKING HOT NIGHT

Posted by Matchesfashion writer: David Hayes October 12th, 2011

It was a smoking hot night with E.Tautz at the end of day three of men’s tailoring week.

Dorsia's smoky whiskey cocktails

No.23 was filled with the rich, woody aroma from the amazing smoke-infused 12 year old Chivas Regal whiskey cocktails served at Dorsia’s pop-up bar to a suited-and booted crowd invited by Total Management and co-hosted by those lovely people from Sunday Times Style magazine.

Right at home: E.Tautz's Patrick Grant takes centre stage

MEN’S TAILORING WEEK: A. SAUVAGE

Posted by Matchesfashion writer: David Hayes October 12th, 2011

Matches Men’s Tailoring Week is in the safe hands of ultra-cool London label A. Sauvage for Day Three. We caught up with designer Adrien Sauvage’s not-so-silent partner,  George Lamb, to find out just what suits the television presenter.

*What is your first memory of wearing a suit? My dad bought me a killer dinner suit for my uncle Wesley’s wedding in the early 80′s. It also doubled up as a perfect Jimmy White outfit for fancy dress parties.
